FAQ

🔥 Top Questions from Our Guests – Answered with Adventure in Mind

1. Can we come for the day, or do we need to stay overnight?

You can do either! Whether you’re stopping by for a few hours or staying the whole week, Wildman Adventure Resort offers day trips, weekend escapes, and full-on week-long adventures. Design your perfect itinerary and check out all our activities here »

2. Do I need to have experience to participate?

Not at all. Most of our guests are first-timers—and they leave feeling like pros. Every adventure is guided by certified and well-trained guides who will walk you through everything from gear to technique. Your courage is all you need, and our staff will encourage you with that too! Nervous about your first adventure? So was one of our guides when they first got here! Read about how they saw that they could take on any adventure in a blog post here >>

3. Will I get wet while rafting?

Yes, and you’ll love every second of it! Our rafting trips are splashy, exciting, and guaranteed to leave you soaked in adrenaline. If you’re worried about being cold, check out our helpful tips on what to wear whitewater rafting! Keep in mind that our water temps in the spring can be chilly, but in the heat of the summer you can expect water temperatures between 70-80 degrees!

4. Can we pay when we arrive?

All adventures must be reserved and paid for in advance. Walk-ins are welcome if we have space, but many trips sell out—especially on weekends. Book now to lock in your adventure »

5. Can I bring my pet?

We love animals—but for the comfort and safety of all guests, we have a strict no-pet policy. Your furry friend will be happier at home while you conquer the wild. If you have your pet but still would like to hop in for an adventure, we usually recommend using the app Rover to find a local pet sitter.

6. When does your season start?

Our rafting season kicks off in mid-April and runs through early/mid-October. Some activities do not start until things warm up a little, but we will accommodate any groups that we can! See our full season calendar »

7. Do you provide transportation between your two Outposts?

The short answer is no. Each group follows their own itinerary, so you’ll need to arrange your own transportation between the Peshtigo and Menominee Outposts (about a 40-mile scenic drive). Pro tip: Check out the Marinette County Waterfalls between each location! Make sure to ask our staff which are their favorites!

8. Do you have firewood for sale?

Yes! We recommend pre-ordering firewood—we’ll have it delivered to your site before you arrive. Please note: State regulations advise against transporting firewood, so buying local helps protect our forests from threats like the Emerald Ash Borer and other invasive species. If you know you’d like to add firewood during your stay, please call at 715-757-2938 or email our office at reservations@wildmanresort.com and our reservations team can take care of you!

9. When’s the best time to go whitewater rafting?

There’s no wrong time to raft with us—each season brings its own flavor of adventure. If you want to investigate in detail, check out this post. Here is the short version:

Spring (April–Mid May)
This is peak adrenaline season. Melting snow and spring rains swell the rivers, creating high water levels, faster flows, and massive waves.

Summer (Late May–August)
The water levels will start to level off from the spring melt, leading to the lovely rafting conditions most of our guests have come to enjoy with Wildman. This is the most popular time to visit—with warmer weather, sunny skies, great swimming temps, and epic outdoor vibes.

Fall (September–Mid October)
The rivers usually get a pump in water levels by the late season rain, the trees are glowing with fall color, and the crowds of the summer have died down a little. It’s a hidden gem time to visit.

Bottom line:
There’s never a bad time to go rafting at Wildman. Just choose the vibe that fits your crew—and if you’re torn, our adventure specialists can help match you with the right trip.

10. Can I bring my own gear?

For your safety, only Wildman-provided equipment is permitted on our adventures. That includes life jackets, helmets, boats, harnesses, paintball markers, and more. We use top-tier gear, so you can focus on the fun.

11. Which river should I raft?

Both offer unforgettable thrills and uniquely different experiences.

  • Peshtigo River: Technical, fast-paced, and changes with the seasons—great for adventure junkies. Spring ranges from group rafts > single-person rafts, while most summer trips are in single-person rafts.

  • Menominee River: Big water, big fun. Home to the largest rapids in the Midwest. Group rafting all season.

Can’t decide? Do both in one day with the Double Dip Package!

12. Do you offer lodging?

Absolutely. We have options for everyone! Whether you want rustic charm or modern comfort, you’ll find the perfect basecamp at Wildman:

  • For Campers: we have prime real estate along the roaring rapids of the Peshtigo River. Leave your white noise machines at home, the river will take care of that for you. Enjoy spacious campsites nestled into a mature Hemlock forest.
  • For Glampers: we have the Pacific Yurt, the Boulder Creek Tiny House, and several “Cozy Cabins” tucked into the woods. All of our glamping options have electricity, a small fridge, and their own private fire rings like the campsites.

*Campers and Glampers have 24/7 access to our modern showerhouse facility with hot showers and flush toilets. There is an outhouse as well, if anyone is feeling the need to keep it as rustic as possible!
