Winter’s over—now it’s time for high adventure! As snowmelt and spring rains flood the Peshtigo River, it transforms into the wildest, most thrilling whitewater rafting experience in the Midwest. This once-a-year phenomenon creates huge waves, surging rapids, and non-stop action—but only for a short window each spring!

Why Spring Rafting on the Peshtigo is a Must-Do Adventure:

Biggest Water of the Year – The river swells with snowmelt and rainfall, creating massive waves and fast, technical rapids.
Non-Stop Whitewater – Unlike many rivers with slow stretches, the Peshtigo delivers nearly continuous rapids from start to finish.
Only Happens Once a Year – This peak-flow experience is exclusive to spring, so don’t miss your chance!
A True Adrenaline Rush – Expect high-energy paddling, powerful waves, and the most exciting rafting in the region.
Best Rapids in the Midwest – Depending on the flow, the Peshtigo boasts class II-IV rapids, making it one of the most thrilling rafting options we offer.

Water levels are usually highest in Late April, so keep an eye on our social media and get in touch with our office team if you want to plan around a certain trip date. Boat size depends on the water level as well. Boats can range from single-person duckies up to 16-foot, 8-person rafts like you’d see on our Menominee River trip.

Description

There are many variables that make for an exciting trip during the spring- air temperature, water temperature, and water levels are ever changing in the spring. Therefore we adapt our trips to the specific conditions each day. Spring trips are usually run in our larger four to five person rafts, with an experienced guide steering your boat, but be ready to run the river in anything from individual boats up to 8 to 10 person rafts. Deep holes, reversals, and standing waves are common for this 5 mile stretch of non-stop action. The water is swift, so the miles go by fast. Be sure to bring a synthetic or wool sweaters, socks and long underwear. Wetsuits may be required and are included in the price of your trip. Additional gear is available, including insulated water shoes and synthetic paddle jackets.   Note: Due to rapidly changing water levels during the spring the Peshtigo River rafting trip can occur in any one of many different sized boats. Be prepared to be in anything from a single person raft up to an 8-10 person raft. We cannot guarantee boat sizes when you make your reservation.
