You’ve hit the whitewater lottery jackpot if you get lucky enough to have the opportunity to run a high water trip on the Peshtigo in the summertime!  It doesn’t happen often, but when an abundance of rain hits the Peshtigo River watershed, the typical summer rapids turn into roaring rapids for which this section of Peshtigo river gets its name.  Typically you’ll only see these types of rapids during the spring runoff when the air and water temperatures will chill you to the bone.  To get these types of rapids when you have warm water and summer temperatures means you are in for one of the best trips in the Midwest!

Description

This will be an exciting whitewater trip.  Rarely do you get the combination of high water and warm temperatures. It’s hard to predict the exact levels so you’ll want to be prepared for anything but the high water summer peshtigo trips are usually run in anything from a 4-5 person raft up to an 8 person raft. Deep holes, reversals, and standing waves are common for this 5 mile stretch of non-stop action. The water is swift, so the miles go by fast.

The Rapids

We thought you might like a real-world view of what you’ll be encountering on the Peshtigo River. This map shows the first two rapids on the Peshtigo. The trip will conveniently end at the Wildman Adventure Resort property a few miles downriver or if the water is right you'll get an extra few miles as we head past Wildman to the boat landing.
