From “Meh” to Memorable: A Different Kind of Weekend in Northern Wisconsin
Recently, Kristy from FOX 47 visited Wildman and described it as a way to turn your next weekend from “meh to memorable.” (Read the Full Article here!)
That phrase stuck with me because, if we’re being honest, a lot of weekends do feel the same. Work wraps up on Friday. Maybe you grab dinner somewhere. Maybe you head north and rent a cabin. Maybe you stay home and catch up on life.
While there is nothing wrong with these things, Wildman is here to offer a reprieve from the monotony of your “everyday”. Kristy’s article mentions everything from the ambiance, the adventure, and even the wonderful adventure guides who make it their priority that you enjoy every step along your Wildman journey.

What Makes Wildman Different?
While you have options for things to do on a weekend, many of them are simply that. ONE OPTION.
What makes Wildman unique is that you can build an entire weekend around adventure with a plethora of exciting opportunities!
Think of it this way… with one company, you can:
-
Raft the Menominee River (home to the biggest whitewater in the Midwest)
Your experience here goes beyond just a day trip. That’s intentional. We want people to show up on Friday and leave on Sunday with sore abs from laughing, and a great story to tell on Monday.

The Rivers Are Real
If you’ve never been whitewater rafting before, it’s hard to explain the shift that happens once you’re on the water.
You start out unsure. Maybe a little nervous.
Then the raft drops into its first rapid. You’re paddling together. The guide is calling out commands. Everyone is focused.
For a few hours, you’re not thinking about work, notifications, or whatever was stressing you out during the week.
You’re present. And that’s usually when the “meh” disappears.
It’s Not Just About Adrenaline
Yes, the rapids are exciting. The zipline is fast. The climbing tower challenges you, but what we see over and over again is something else: connection.
Families cheering each other on.
Friends laughing after someone nearly falls out of the raft (we call it “bobbing for apples”).
Teams working together in a way that doesn’t happen in a conference room.
Adventure tends to break down barriers quickly. That’s a big part of why people come back year after year. It’s the shared smiles and a moment away from the buzz of an iPhone.
Planning a Weekend That Feels Worth It
If you’re considering a weekend up north and want it to feel different from the usual getaway, here’s a simple approach:
1. Pick your anchor activity.
For most groups, that’s rafting. It sets the tone.
2. Add a second experience.
Ziplining pairs well with rafting. So does climbing. Paintball is a great reason to get covered in paint and mud before splashing off in the river. All of these options turn a single activity into a full day.
3. Stay on-site if you can.
Cabins, lodge rooms, and campsites make it easier to relax in between adventures without having to pack up and drive somewhere else.
4. Maximize your downtime.
The goal is to enjoy the rush, but not so much that you forget to enjoy the campsite fire and s’mores. Enjoy the rhythm of it, adventure during the day, and a campfire at night.
That’s when it really feels like a break.
Grateful for the Spotlight
We appreciated Kristy taking the time to come up and see what we’re about. It’s always interesting to see your own work described from an outside perspective.
